Mapped by Music at On Being

Come Join me for “Mapped by Music” at the  On Being studios next Thursday Nov. 19th

We need YOU for our investigation of music, place and time-come share!

This is a free event, open to the public, but please register with the Eventbrite

link provided, to ensure a seat for you and yours.

Our lives are mapped by music. From childhood on, our sonic experiences shape the geographies and contours of our lives. Music has the power to take us back in time, conjuring emotion and dropping us into a specific physical location — connecting us to people and a sense of place.

Think of a specific song or piece of music. Where are you transported and what memory comes to mind?

As part of the Your Audio Selfie project from On Being, an evening of music and conversation with ethnomusicologist Sowah Mensa, percussionist Marc Anderson, and composer Chris Beaty. Together, they will explore this question through the cartography of their own lives. Join us for an interactive evening of listening, inquiry, and creation – and you’ll have the chance to record your own audio selfie in the On Being studios.

This event is free and open to the public (event poster), but please RSVP to guarantee entrance. Seating is general admission and doors open at 6:30 pm.

In the Studio: Season two of National Geographic’s Most Amazing Photos is shaping up nicely. But if I told you what was on it, I’d have to snuff ya.

World’s Weirdest Animals

In the Studio: National Geographic’s: World’s Weirdest Animals airs this month-and some of these critters are very, very weird. Scoring this show allowed me the opportunity to trip things out a bit, and I took every chance I could to do so. And I brought a touch of the funk in, as well. Weird and funk: like chocolate and peanut butter. Air dates to follow.

In The Air

I’m heading to Washington DC, then to NYC to show my work and meet up with friends new and old.
